Free and Easy: Walking Meditation | Self-Care Tips: Blog 8
I meditate every day but I choose to do this at the end of my day. It is a ritual and I enjoy the time to unwind and sit in a peaceful space with my diffuser filling the room with my favourite essential oil and keeping my mind still.
Did you know you can also mediate when you walk?
This can happen anywhere, but is particularly good when done close to nature. For Buddhist monks, walking is an essential part of their practice and they often so it for as long as 15 hours a day. But then that’s what they do.
For us in our busy world, just ten minutes spent walking and not thinking about other things. This can be as easy as it is to put a walking meditation into practice.
As you walk let the thoughts go, pass don’t focus on them. You mind may wander, but when it does, gently bring your attention back to your movements.
Take your mind to your footsteps, think about the feeling under your feet, feel the sensation as your foot rolls along the path. What does the path feel like? Then tune into your surroundings, listen to the sounds around you and your breath.
It takes some practice, but once you have mastered it, walking meditation clears the mind, reduces stress and can create a feeling of inner calm. Peace.
Try a simple walking meditation. Be mindful. This is all it takes to clear you mind and stay grounded and centred. Relieving your mind and body of stress and feeling tense.
Enjoy your walk :)
